What are your contributions to the team?

  • Report into the Director Ethics and Compliance, Due Diligence and Trade Compliance.

  • Support all know-your-customer (KYC) and know-your-supplier (KYS) due diligence matters in the aftermarket.

  • In conjunction with trade compliance specialists, support the aftermarket organization in trade compliance matters.

  • Assist in improving and maintaining comprehensive KYC and KYS due diligence programs for Bombardier’s aftermarket activities covering all lines of the aftermarket business (e.g. parts distribution, parts sales, service centers, lines stations, mobile repair trucks, technical publications, digital services).

  • Support and advise on the development and implementation of aftermarket compliance plans consistent with a risk-based compliance program.

  • Review existing aftermarket KYC due diligence processing standards for deficiencies and assist in the development and implementation of new KYC due diligence programs by:

  • Assessing any major compliance risks in the aftermarket organization;

  • Developing policies, procedures and practices where needed, and being accountable for monitoring and managing all aspects of compliance in the aftermarket; and

  • Supporting the selection and implementation of KYC and KYS due diligence digital solutions.

  • Ensure all identified regulatory changes related to money laundering, corruption, economic sanctions and trade compliance are monitored, reviewed, tracked and actioned for the aftermarket business, along with timely communications to all relevant stakeholders.

  • Develop and deliver annual, periodic and ad hoc compliance training and awareness activities to appropriate internal stakeholders and business divisions within the aftermarket business, taking into account, general compliance training provided to all Bombardier employees.

  • Review due diligence questionnaire responses and clear red flags.

  • Be solicited by your clients on different contractual provisions relating to trade compliance or ethics and compliance. Your recommendations will impact on the day-to-day relationships with our customers and our service providers.

  • Play a key role in proactively managing legal risk through training and coaching, as well as through the creation and implementation of efficient governance processes.

  • Anticipate stakeholder’s needs and proactively develop solutions to meet them.

  • Serve as a key resource on complex and critical compliance issues. Participate in and contribute to meetings with Bombardier’s senior management, advising management on needed actions.

  • Be required to travel occasionally.

How to thrive in this role?

  • You are a practicing member of the Bar of at least one Canadian Province or one U.S. State.

  • You have a minimum of 8 years of experience related to compliance matters with experience in, commercial or transactional law or commercial litigation.

  • You show great leadership, are autonomous and have excellent legal and business acumen, giving you the confidence to take quick decisions and provide strategic advice in a stressful environment.

  • You are at ease to work in an environment where technical questions are discussed.

  • You can easily manage a busy schedule.

  • You have strong drafting and communication skills as well as a superior capacity to convince people.

  • Sound compliance judgment, coupled with good business sense, allowing you to provide efficient and value-added advice and solutions is essential.

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills are needed.

  • You have the ability to operate and deliver results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • You have good knowledge of MS-Office environment (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
